Adara to be a Medical Doctor, Miriam to be a Doctor of Social Work.

As Adara is finishing up her BA degree in Anthropology, she has done a bit of a side-turn and entered Pre-Med as a double major. She's got years of education ahead of her now that she has decided to go into Medical school, but is very excited about her decision. Along with her Anthropology courses and a myriad of chemistry, biology, and physics classes, she also has to do hundreds of hours of volunteer work, hospital and patient-interaction training and shadowing physicians before she can even hope to get into medical school.

Adara is open to many directions in her future as a medical doctor, because she knows that the more she learns the more she will be able to focus in on what she wants to do, but right now she is interested in obtaining her surgical license and is particularly interested in gynecology.

Miriam has also done a side-turn in her education. She has applied to the Social Work department and is planning to get her Masters of Social Work with an emphasis in Mental Health and continue on to get Ph.D. in Social Work, which will allow her to conduct her own research and teach as a professor at the University, but also work as a licensed therapist.

In the meantime, Miriam is still working in research as an RA for the U of U and the Veteran's Hospital doing studies on PTSD in soldiers returning from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If everything goes as planned, the Latour family will have two people named Dr. Latour in the future! (Adara plans to retain her maiden name even if she marries. We'll see if that plan changes some day ...)
